Greetings fellow munkies.
2014 promises to be a good year. So far, anyway. I am still deciding what my resolutions are. I know, I am late on the uptake with that, but not really. I had been working on planning my resolutions for the better part of December. I guess the ones I worked on planning are really the ones I should stick with. I don't have typical resolutions. Normal resolutions include things like "I'm gonna work out more and eat healthy." To resolutions like that, I say... "Meh." When your resolution provides a way for advertising agencies to peddle their wares upon our good intentions... There is just something fundamentally wrong with that. But that is my humble opinion. So my resolutions are as follows...
My first resolution.
Live my life the way I want to live it. I am not saying that I have been living my life to make others happy, because I haven't. I am saying that I have been entirely too lazy and it is time for me to get organized and get my butt in gear. I gripe all the time about the disorganization of our home. Well I will not allow my self to fall prey to my own laziness in the year 2014! I will go through the mountain of paperwork stacked on my desk and file it or shred it! I WILL BE PRODUCTIVE! I will have a neat domicile. I will clear out the clutter. I will even get back into couponing.
2nd resolution.
As mentioned in yesterday's post. My phrase to convey disdain in 2013 was "Bite Me." The phrase served me well. I used it many a time to convey to my husband that I didn't like something or no longer wanted to discuss a certain topic. I wracked my brain for several hours on how to replace "Bite Me" from my general vocabulary. I posted a request to all my friends on facebook and was offered several good choices as a replacement. I discussed it with my partner at work. She wisely said "It will come to you from out of the blue, just wait." Low and Behold... She was right. My new phrase of contempt is Buggery? (and all derivatives there of, i.e. bugger and bugger off.)
Resolution # 3.
365 days of the Selfie. The "selfie" is probably the most hated term of 2013 (except for twerk). Selfie been added to the dictionary. People of the internet have even claimed that by adding the term to the dictionary; culture as a whole is now in the toilet. "NAY!" I say. The selfie provides opportunities to document events, places and general happenings. It allows for all parties to be involved, including (most specifically) the photographer. I have come to the realization that I post a lot of pics that can be considered to be from the 1st person point of view. It is all fine and good to see things from my perspective. I should know, I see it that way ALL THE TIME! In 2014, I want to see myself as others see me. An outward view of introspection? Plus, this year will mark my 35th year on the grand ole planet Earth. Why not document it?
4rth (and most important, to me,anyway.) Resolution.
There was a meme posted up on facebook roughly a month or so ago (I don't really remember the time frame.) The 52 week Money Challenge. This little spread sheet meme floated around and I saw it. It inspired me. I have a goal in mind. I by no means have the funding to accomplish this goal at this time. But saving the money to accomplish this goal is definitely a huge step in the right direction. So one of the rare days I had off from work (cus lets face it.. We all know at this point that I work ALL THE TIME!) I sat down and tweaked the money challenge spread sheet. The original called for $1.00 the first week and $2.00 the second and so on. Being the ambitious munki that I am, I decided that I was gonna do $3.00 the first week and then $6.00 and then $9.00 all the way up to the final week of $256.00. Then I really got to thinking. Towards the end of the year, it is gonna get really tough to be depositing $200+ dollars a week, especially on a medic's salary. So.. I decided to alternate weeks. My hopes from this challenge are to set up a nice and fat account, and just developing the habit of depositing fat wads of cash. Once it becomes habitual, it becomes hard to break. So today.. I went to the bank and opened a new savings account and made the first deposit. I would have done it yesterday, but the bank was closed. Slackers.
5th (and final) Resolution.
Blog.
It may seem dorky. but hey, Whadaya know... I'm a dork. Blogging for me is kind of like writing in a diary only without the fear of someone reading it. When one writes a blog, they write it with the expectation of someone reading it. My hopes for this are to vent, document and be memorable. I intend a lot with this. Let's see if I can keep up with my own ambition.
Later Yall,
Ranting Munki.
